FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are you accepting new patients?

Yes, we are welcoming new patients to our practice!  Please verify that we are in network directly with your insurance.

  • What days are you open?

Our office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30-4:30, with some after hours availability for sick appointments.

  • How do I make an appointment?

You can call us at 775-900-9987 to schedule.  Established patients are able to schedule same day sick appointments by phoning our office or using the self-schedule feature on the patient portal.  Please see the Appointments page for more information.

  • Do you accept my health insurance?

Please refer to our insurance page to review a list of accepted insurance providers.  However, it is the parent's responsibility to contact the insurance plan to ensure that we are in network.

  • Can I meet my pediatrician before my baby is born?

Yes, we strongly encourage parents-to-be to visit our office for a prenatal appointment. This is a great way to get acquainted with our office.

  • Does your practice support breastfeeding mothers?

Yes, we promote breastfeeding. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding for babies 6 months through 24 months. Breastfeeding helps defend children against infections, prevents allergies, and protects against many chronic conditions.

While experts believe that breast milk is the best nutritional choice for infants, breastfeeding may not be possible for all women. Some women have specific considerations that impede breastfeeding or choose to not breastfeed. In these cases, an iron-fortified, milk-based infant formula is a good alternative.

We will gladly discuss your diet and feeding concerns at your child's well-care visit.

  • I just gave birth. When should I schedule my baby's first doctor visit?

We recommend that your newborn be seen in our office 1-2 days after discharge from the hospital.  The pediatrician in the hospital should advise you the appropriate follow up timing.

  • How do we contact the after hours doctor?

We have after hours appointments available, which can only be scheduled using the patient portal.  For questions by phone, you may call our office for the on-call pediatrician to assist you.  In the event of a life threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

    After Hours
  • What is a pediatrician?

A pediatrician is a medical doctor who specializes in the care of children. Pediatricians have undergone special training in the health and illnesses of infants, children, teens, and young adults, and are certified by the American Board of Pediatrics after passing a comprehensive exam.

Pediatricians provide preventive health care for children in good health and medical care for children who are acutely or chronically ill.

They also provide parents with support and advice on concerns such as growth and development, safety and prevention, nutrition, and emotional wellness to foster a lifetime of good health.

  • How often does my child need to be seen in the office?

Our routine well-child visits schedule follows the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines.  More frequent visits may be necessary depending on your child's health history and your concerns.

  • Why does my child need to receive vaccinations?

Immunizations are vital shots given to children at various ages to protect them from serious and potentially fatal childhood diseases. Ensuring your child receives these immunizations on schedule is the best way to safeguard their health. The American Academy of Pediatrics reports that vaccinations have decreased infections from vaccine-preventable diseases by over 90%.

Our practice very strongly recommends vaccinations.  If you have any concerns about vaccinations, feel free to contact our office. We're here to help!

  • What immunizations will my child receive?

To help protect your child from many serious infectious diseases, we follow the immunization schedule recommended by The American Academy of Pediatrics. Please discuss your immunization questions and concerns with Dr Frazee.

  • My child needs to see a specialist. What do I do?

For non-urgent referrals: Most referrals are completed and submitted directly to the specialist's office within 1 week.  Please schedule your appointment with the specialist after we advise you that your referral has been submitted.

For urgent referrals: If Dr. Frazee determines that you need an urgent referral, your referral will be initiated immediately. Please remain in our office while your referral is processed, then proceed to the specialist.

  • When will I receive lab or test results?

You will receive a call immediately with any lab results that require urgent attention. Otherwise, abnormal lab results will be addressed promptly by Dr. Frazee by phone, portal message, or appointment.

  • How do I obtain a prescription refill?

For medication refills, please ensure there are no refills available by calling your pharmacy. If there are no refills available, please send us a portal message or phone our office.
